And So It Begins….

During the week of 16 May, 2023, the six founding members of the Coalition of African American Firearms Instructors (CAAFI) attended the USCCA AR Instructors Course, at Black Alpha Tactical (BAT), in Indian Head, Maryland. During the course, a lot of time was spent learning the new material, discussing various concepts pertaining to the AR platform and training, and on the firing line. It was an amazing 3 days to spend with the team, and despite it being a bit warm and muggy, I think we all really enjoyed being out in the sun, and training.

We’ve spent a lot of time planning, developing, and refining our courses to ensure that students get the most for the money and time they spend with us. Having earned our certifications with USCCA, and seeing the value in what USCCA brings to add along with what we’ve already put together has us really excited to start teaching some students. I think that’s the biggest factor bonding us together in this pursuit: we just want to train folks, and help them be more comfortable with the tools they have available to defend their families, while fully understanding the gravity of their decisions.

I hope that we’re met with the same energy and zeal we all put into developing our courses and ourselves, and I hope that people leave our classes better than when they first enrolled. I hope each student understands that they’re only competing with themselves from yesterday, and that their comfort is incredibly important to us. I hope that students appreciate the emphasis we place on safety, and I hope we can help those students feel prepared and safe in their homes.

Join us at BAT for our first Entry Level class, on 24 June, 2023.
